So, I don't normally write reviews unless a game is a rip off and I want to warn people, or the game is amazing and I want the devs to know it.
This game is amazing! I don't like dark, slow paced "L.A. Noir" type of games, I just don't download them. But, this one intrigued me - it was $4.99 (I'm a $.99 or Free kind of game downloader only); but as I'm home very sick and have nothing to do, I figured I'd try it this once. And I'm so glad I did!
I've only played a short bit of it, up to the first save point really, so my feedback should really say a lot for what I ran into in my first 15 minutes of the game. But those first 15 minutes made such an impact on me from the very beginning that I immediately loved it. Explore and read EVERYTHING! I explored one side of the house (not a spoiler) but failed to check the other side, now I might have missed something hugely important as my newspapers are now missing sections and is incomplete so far... I'm a completionist, I'll be restarting. Lol!
There are a few problems with it that I would like to bring to the Devs' attention to help the game... At the beginning, on the bridge, I was watching my iPad screen closely, but even I couldn't see the girl the man (whom has yet been introduced to me) claimed he saw... that scene might need to be frozen for a couple frames. In the newspaper, the pictures are all covering up the text, I cannot read all of the text (which actually can cause a problem in the game). You guys implemented the joystick, thank you! I can't imagine playing this with out it. But if you're going to implement joystick, you need to realize the struggles involved with getting our protagonist to run... may I suggest adding a small "Run" button somewhere? Also, the menu, I run into several panicky moments where I cannot get the menu to recognize the fact I'm clicking Back or Continue. At one point, I was actually stuck in the menu repeatedly pressing on the Continue button in hopes I wasn't going to loose all progress.
These are very minor things that the Devs might already be aware of, but it in no way distracts from the enjoyment of this game (except the newspaper one, that's a problem for me). It's a good story so far. I'm looking forward to continuing- but would really appreciate the fixes.
I gave 4/5 stars due to the tech issues... fix the issues, HAPPY to change to 5/5 stars, which this game truest deserves.
